what's new with you?

my life as of late:

  • getting to know my nephew jack. he's 34 days old and he's decided to join us in the world now and is really opening his eyes. i love him.
  • i've been caught up in applying for ONE class at ghetto broward college. they just keep surprising me with paperwork and random things that are giving my nerves a hard time. i start my first ASL class this friday. praying that it's for me and ready to have a new challenge in my life.
  • works been picking up. really trying to grow my private clientele for massage. support my facebook page by liking it!
  • i need to get back on my cooking game; i recently made eggplant parm and chicken udon soup... nothing new.
  • matt starts grad school today. time to get used to a whole new work week and school schedule!
  • his birthday is this saturday... scheming up a surprise day!
  • and the one thing i'm most excited about coming up... a day trip to naples JUST to stock up on trader joe's food. it's sad that the closest one is 2 hours away.
  • that's it. maybe one day soon i'll keep this blog updated, with my favorite thing.... recipes!
  • always remember- shit happens.
love you,
-eve

peddle boating on the vltava river in prague

i think one of my favorite things to do are water related. i love tubing, white water rafting, peddle boating... or just being on a boat in general. as a native floridian, i actually don't love swimming in the ocean. unless of course it's flat and warm and clear. all three of those things. and there are no sharks or sealice or sea creatures. i could go on.

while living in prague, we  went peddle boating twice. i think in my brain it was more times than that because it's all i ever wanted to do when it was nice out.

the first time we went with a whole group of us; matt and i in one boat, and then drew, sara, katelyn hobbs and diana in another boat. we enjoyed bohemian potato chips while peddling around the vltava river through the amazing architecture of prague 1.

the second time we went was the day before we moved back to florida. we brought along some wine and cherries and cried.
how could you not want to live there?

i think that day it all sank in that we were leaving. now i ask myself:

why?

and so the days go on...

and the raw food diet continues...

i ran out of wet food.

i honestly keep it around for "treats" anyways. i'm weird. i just find a wet food diet to be strange, and i've always fed kisa dry food with the occasional wet food special treat maybe once or twice a month. so since i ran of out wet, i could obviously go get more, but i want to ween her completely off her normal diet and just do the raw diet.

so yesterday and today i mixed it up with a tiny bit of dry food and she's been eating it without hesitation. maybe tomorrow i'll be brave enough to just put out the plain old raw food. or maybe she'll be brave enough i mean.

:) we'll see.

raw food diet day 2

i decided to just put more wet food now with the raw food(about half n half). she is a little hesitant at first, but realizes she's hungry a few minutes later and eats it up. i think it's because she has no dry food just sitting around for her to eat whenever she wants. it's working guys! (even though i feel a tad guilty) i wonder what the long term affects will be.

raw food diet day 1

alright i'm going to start with saying, really? it's hard enough to find a wide array of people on a raw food diet, but your animals? a few months ago my dad's dog was diagnosed with heartworm and he heard from his holistic vet that putting the dog on a raw food diet could help. this really pumps up their immune system drastically. so why not cats? maybe they'll live till 20...

as soon as i got kisa at 3 months old she has been fed holistic natural food. (gluten free, no wheat, no corn, no soy, no meat by products) and i don't care about spending $25 dollars on a bag of food every month. she's important to me so therefore she should be fed well.

how weird is it that animals can handle raw meats but humans can't? i just find it strange...

here's a good article to read about it:

Is Raw Meat Safe?
Cats' digestive systems are finely tuned to handle things humans can't. Their stomachs have a highly acidic environment, which is an excellent deterrent to ingested bacteria. In the wild, cats sometimes eat some pretty putrid stuff with no ill effects. Wild cats die more often from infection due to injuries than from food poisoning. However, there are steps you can take if you have concerns about salmonella, e coli, or other bacteria.
  • Avoid packaged supermarket ground beef
  • Buy "free-range" meat and poultry from a trusted butcher
  • Add priobiotics (which help maintain intestinal health) to your raw food mix
  • Always use safe handling procedures, and take up and dispose of uneaten food within 30 minutes

read more here.

the other day, my brother eruch said he was going to pick up raw food from fiesta pet deli  for his dogs and cats and asked me if i wanted some... sure, why not? let's see how kisa likes it.

it comes frozen and should be kept frozen except for the portion you feed for the present day and the following day. the mixture i got was of beef and chicken(with neck, liver, etc) eruch told me to slowly introduce it by mixing a little wet food in with the raw meat.

disclaimer:  don't take too much advice from me, this is all very new to me. so do your research if you're interested in feeding you pets a raw diet :)

day 1:

no dice. i mixed about 2 tablespoons of wet food with the raw meat and kisa sniffed it a few times and walked away. i've caught her several times up on the kitchen counter eating leaves off of my flowers instead.

she's also been incredibly loving because... she wants to be fed REAL FOOD.

now we're fighting.

be back soon with more updates! let' see how this process goes.

such a flat layer of salt water

SUCH a blast on sunday at the beach with some of my girls. i love you!!! can't wait for more summer days like this.

(my iphone case is by lifeproof; therefore it is waterproof so don't be judging me for having my phone in the ocean)

total flight

wednesday fun day

the beach was absolutely perfect. the water was so flat and calm.

after 8 days of eating in and cooking, we treated ourselves on a date to tryst. i don't like going after 10pm because it gets really crowded and loud, but for an earlier dinner it's really nice. the food is great.

they have pretzel bread filled with cheese served with an amazing mustard dipping sauce. i will come here any day just for these.

matt had the steak with truffle fries and arugula salad.

i got the special- grilled red trout with tzatziki sauce over a greek rice salad.

i really liked this day. <3
