bar soap into liquid soap

so i stumbled across how to turn bar soap into liquid soap and gave it a try. i can't say for sure yet if this recipe is long term legit or not, but so far so good.

all you need is vegetable gylcerin(from whole foods), 8 oz's of bar soap(i used two different bars) and a gallon of purified water.

grate the 2 bars of soap

pour the shavings into a gallon of water in a pot that's on medium high heat and add 2 tablespoons of gylcerin.

stir until all the soap is melted and then turn the heat off and cover the pot for 12-24 hours.

i woke up the next day(12 hrs later), stirred the soap and about an hour later it turned hard enough to mix with an electric mixer.

the consistency is really strange... like snot. and i had to use this measuring cup that had a spout to transfer the soap from the pot to the containers.

it refilled two of my soap dispensers, a mason jar for christalyn, and most of the gallon jug. i added some vitamin e oil to the soap at the end because apparently it is a preservative. a few other ideas i read off the website was to add coconut oil as a moisturizer or any essential oils you are partial to. it ends up being a pretty big saving, but i mostly did this just to see if i could.... it was crazy easy and kind of exciting to see the results. :)
